Iran announced Sunday night that search and recovery operations have concluded following a U.S.-Israeli airstrike on a girls’ elementary school in the southern city of Minab, with officials reporting 165 fatalities.
The strike hit the Shajareh Tayyebeh School on Saturday during what Tehran described as a large-scale joint offensive carried out by Washington and Tel Aviv. The city is also home to a military base operated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian extended condolences to the families of those killed and to Minab residents. In a statement issued Saturday, he denounced the airstrikes as “inhumane” and characterized them as a barbaric act that adds “another dark page to the chronicle of countless crimes committed by aggressors” against Iran.
Pezeshkian also directed regional relief agencies, medical centers, and officials to ensure the immediate and continuous care of the wounded and their families, urging them to mobilize all available resources to support those affected.
