Relatives of victims from the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad, India, gathered outside the Civil Hospital on Sunday to claim the bodies of their loved ones. The fatal incident occurred when a London-bound Boeing 787 struck a residential medical college hostel shortly after take-off, claiming at least 270 lives on board and on the ground. Remarkably, one passenger survived.
Due to the severity of the crash, most bodies were charred or mutilated, making identification extremely difficult. Hundreds of grieving family members provided DNA samples to aid the process.
Authorities have confirmed DNA matches for 32 victims so far, with 14 bodies already collected by relatives. Coffins were seen being transferred into ambulances, and somber funeral preparations began as families carried them into local crematoriums.
Hospital official Rajneesh Patel said the identification effort continues, as officials work to bring closure to the many families still awaiting news.
