The newly appointed Prime Minister of Sudan, Kamil Idris, has called on nations that support the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to put an end to their “criminal operations”.
“The national security of Sudan and the authority of the state can only be maintained by eradicating the rebellion and all types of insurgent militias. I urge the countries that back these militias to halt these criminal activities entirely, and to target those nations that plan, finance, and assist in their execution,” he stated during a speech in Port Sudan on Sunday.
In a separate statement, Idris expressed his desire to “serve the nation and the Sudanese people with the highest level of sincerity and commitment”.
The Sudanese government has accused the UAE and neighboring African nations, including Chad, Libya, and South Sudan, of providing support to the RSF throughout the ongoing conflict.
Sudan descended into civil war on April 15, 2023, when long-standing tensions between the military and the RSF erupted into open conflict in the capital, Khartoum, and other regions of the country.
Reports indicate that at least 24,000 individuals have lost their lives, although the actual figure is likely much higher.
Over 14 million people have been displaced and forced to flee their homes, with more than 4 million seeking refuge in neighboring countries.

The conflict has been characterized by horrific acts, including mass rape and ethnically targeted killings, which constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity, particularly in the western region of Darfur, as reported by the United Nations and international human rights organizations.
Famine has been declared in at least five areas, with the epicenter located in the devastated Darfur region.
