Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, has called on military personnel to enhance their efforts in tackling criminal activities nationwide, highlighting the necessity of pursuing and neutralizing threats in all their hiding places.

This appeal was made during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Social and Award Evening for Soldiers, Ratings, and Airmen held in Abuja on Sunday.

Musa underscored the importance of adopting a more proactive stance in confronting security challenges, asserting that the military must achieve a substantial impact in operations against insecurity by 2025.

“We may not be at our desired destination yet, but we are making progress, and I assure you that through collaboration, we will triumph over all forms of evil.

“Our mission is to identify and eliminate the perpetrators. I have urged all our commanders this year to ensure we make a significant difference in our operations.

“We must venture beyond our usual confines, seek out criminals wherever they may be, and pursue them relentlessly,” Musa stated.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, echoed the military’s vital role in maintaining peace and stability, reminding the troops of their commitment to serve the nation with unwavering loyalty and determination.

We must proceed wherever we are lawfully directed—by land, sea, or air—and maintain our determination in combating terrorism, insurgency, secessionism, and other threats to our shared peace as Nigerians, stated Oluyede.

He further underscored the necessity of backing the government’s initiatives aimed at enhancing the lives of Nigerians, asserting that the military’s dedication is vital for realizing national goals.

Vice Adm. Emmanuel Ogalla, the Chief of Naval Staff, assured Navy personnel of the military leadership’s commitment to their welfare and readiness for operations.

“Despite the evolving nature of our security challenges, your steadfast dedication ensures the security and strength of our nation,” remarked Abubakar.

He also pointed out the successes achieved through collaboration among the services, which have resulted in notable progress in counterinsurgency efforts, disaster response, and other national objectives.

Abubakar reiterated that the Nigerian Air Force is devoted to the welfare, training, and operational preparedness of its personnel, acknowledging that a motivated and well-trained force is essential for military success.

LT Gen. Oloyede emphazized the importance of the military in safe guiding the sovereignty of a nation.
