Djibouti Parliament Speaker Dileita Mohamed Dileita held a meeting on Wednesday with Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty to explore ways to enhance bilateral relations during his visit to Cairo the Egyptian capital.
They also shared perspectives on regional matters of mutual interest, particularly those affecting the Horn of Africa. In this context, both Dileita and Abdelatty emphasized the necessity of ongoing dialogue and consultation to advance shared goals and strengthen stability and security in the region.
Africa24hrs gathered that earlier in November, Minister Abdel Aty had a meeting with his Djiboutian counterpart, Mahmoud Ali Youssef, during the Ministerial Preparatory Meeting for the extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh.
The minister conveyed Egypt’s commitment to strengthening political and economic ties with Djibouti, building on the progress made in recent years, which was highlighted by the conversation between the two presidents on October 30, reflecting a shared commitment to continuous consultations.
Both ministers reached a consensus on enhancing collaboration in the areas of economy, trade, and logistics, while also promoting partnerships within the private sectors of Egypt and Djibouti.
The discussion also encompassed a review of regional matters, particularly developments related to the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea. In this context, the ministers from Egypt and Djibouti underscored the importance of upholding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations, along with ensuring the freedom of international navigation.
Additionally, they concurred on the need to strengthen coordination within the African Union (AU) and the Arab League (AL).
