Former Tottenham and Algeria midfielder Nabil Bentaleb has resumed training with French club Lille, just a few months after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest.
Lille’s head coach, Bruno Genesio, expressed optimism regarding Bentaleb’s return to the field.
“I’ve seen him and talked to him over the last two or three days. He’s in good spirits and highly motivated,” Genesio remarked.
According to French media, Bentaleb collapsed during a five-a-side match with friends in June of last year.
He subsequently received a pacemaker-defibrillator at Lille University Hospital. Bentaleb rejoined Lille in 2023, returning to the club where he developed his skills as a youth player.
He began his journey in football at the club’s academy after his talent was recognized at the age of 10.
Bentaleb launched his professional career in the Premier League with Tottenham before moving to the German club Schalke. The 30-year-old has also played for Newcastle and Angers.
