Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has refuted the rumors regarding his death circulating on social media, affirming that he is indeed alive. The former leader expressed his bewilderment at why certain individuals would wish him harm and promptly reassured his family members of his good health.
Obasanjo made these remarks on Tuesday during the inauguration of the Old Garage/Oke Fia-Lameco Dual carriageway in Osogbo, Osun State, an event marking the second anniversary of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration.
“I became aware of the rumor about my demise through social media. I immediately communicated to my children and relatives that it was false and that I am very much alive. Those who desire my death may hold such wishes, but I remain under God’s protection,” he stated.
“Why would anyone wish for my death? Those who entertain such notions are likely to encounter misfortune themselves”.
“This type of rumor is not only unsettling but also highlights the extent to which certain individuals exploit technology. Such behavior is intolerable,” Obasanjo remarked”.
During the event, Governor Adeleke emphasized that his administration is dedicated to the development of the state’s infrastructure and services.
“Esteemed citizens of Osun State, our administration has successfully constructed over 120 kilometers of roads throughout the state. Additionally, two significant flyovers in Osogbo are nearing completion, while work continues on the flyover in Ile-Ife and the dualization project in Ilesa”.

Adeleke also says his administration has initiated the dualization of Odoori-Adeeke Road in Iwo, which will be executed in two phases. The first phase will extend to the Post Office and the Oluwo Palace, while the second phase will commence from the Post Office to Adeeke Junction.
The governor further noted that the administration has not collected any loan for these projects, rather they are all funded from the state treasury
“I wish to emphasize that for all our projects and programs, we have not incurred any loans. Instead, we have effectively addressed financial leakages within the state and utilized local resources to manage project costs while maintaining high standards”.
“As we enter the second half of our administration, I assure all sons and daughters of Osun State that under my leadership, we will complete all ongoing projects. We remain committed to addressing both the infrastructural and social needs of our citizens, ensuring a balanced approach between hard and soft infrastructure”.
