American YouTuber and Twitch star IShowSpeed celebrated his 21st birthday in Lagos on Wednesday, coinciding with a major milestone of reaching 50 million subscribers on YouTube.
During his visit to Nigeria’s commercial hub, the content creator explored popular landmarks including Balogun Market, Freedom Park and the Nike Art Gallery. He also sampled Nigeria’s iconic jollof rice, sharing the experience with his fans online.
The internet sensation, born Darren Jason Watkins Jr. in Cincinnati, launched an extensive African tour in late December. The tour has taken him to 15 countries across the continent, attracting massive crowds wherever he goes.
Highlights of the trip have included racing a cheetah in South Africa, playing football with 100 children in Angola, visiting the Maasai community in Kenya and attending the Africa Cup of Nations final in Morocco. On Tuesday, he joined celebrations in Dakar after Senegal’s AFCON victory.
IShowSpeed’s growing global influence was recently recognized by Rolling Stone magazine, which named him the most influential creator of 2025.
