Excitement is building among Moroccan supporters as their national team advances at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, with hopes growing that the host nation could lift the trophy. However, many fans admit they are uneasy about the prospect of facing Egypt in the final.
Morocco finished top of Group A with seven points from two wins and a draw, a record matched by Egypt, who also topped Group B. While confidence in the Atlas Lions is high, Egypt’s reputation at the tournament continues to inspire caution.
“My prediction is that Morocco will be crowned champions, God willing,” said one supporter. “But honestly, we really don’t want to face Egypt in the final. If we play Egypt, they will take the title.”
This concern appears to be widely shared among Moroccan fans. “I support Egypt,” said one woman, “but if we end up playing against them, that’s a completely different story.”
The two teams cannot meet before the final, and several matches remain before that stage. Now entering the knockout rounds, both Morocco and Egypt are considered strong favourites to reach the quarter-finals. Morocco are set to face Tanzania on Sunday, while Egypt will take on Benin the following day.
As the tournament progresses, anticipation and anxiety is likely to grow among Morocco’s passionate supporters.
