Preparations for the Central African Republic’s general elections, scheduled for December 28, 2025, reached an important milestone with the delivery of sensitive electoral materials to the capital, Bangui.
On December 15, a shipment totaling 96 tonnes of election supplies including ballot papers, vote tally sheets and other official documents arrived in the city. The materials were formally handed over by Mohamed Ag Ayoya, Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Humanitarian Coordinator, to Mathias Barthélemy Morouba, President of the National Elections Authority.
At the handover ceremony, Ag Ayoya praised the joint efforts of the Central African authorities and international partners in ensuring the successful delivery of the materials. He noted that the operation reflects strong government commitment, particularly in financing the supplies, alongside sustained support from the international community.
Morouba assured citizens that the materials would be distributed nationwide ahead of voting day. He said deployment will be carried out across the country with the assistance of the UN peacekeeping mission, MINUSCA, using a combination of air transport and road convoys to reach all regions.
MINUSCA is providing essential logistical and security support, particularly in remote and difficult-to-access areas. With the election date approaching, the arrival of the materials marks a major step forward in organizing the polls and ensuring nationwide participation.
