A plane operated by AMREF Flying Doctors, an air ambulance service, crashed Thursday in a residential area near Nairobi, Kenya, killing at least six people. The aircraft, a Cessna Citation XLS, had taken off from Nairobi and was en route to Somaliland when it went down in Mwihoko, a neighborhood in Kiambu County, which borders the capital. Witnesses at the scene described a devastating impact, with body parts scattered around the crash site.

Kiambu County Commissioner Henry Wafula confirmed that four people aboard the plane died, while two others were killed inside the house the aircraft struck. AMREF Flying Doctors acknowledged the crash but did not disclose the number of casualties or a possible cause, stating it is cooperating fully with aviation authorities and emergency responders to determine what happened. The Kenya Red Cross, which initially reported the aircraft as a helicopter, later confirmed it was a jet and sent rescue teams to the scene.
