The Malawian cricket community is grieving the loss of prominent official Arjun Menon, who was tragically killed on Saturday night.
A statement from the Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) revealed that the 48-year-old was ‘brutally murdered’ at his home in Blantyre.
Local authorities in the Southern African country have yet to release a statement regarding Menon’s passing.
Menon, a wicketkeeper who represented Singapore at the senior level five times, served as the operations manager for Cricket Malawi.
MNCS chief executive Dr. Henry Kamata expressed that Menon’s impact on the sport was ‘immense and far-reaching,’ highlighting his ‘pivotal role’ in the development and success of the national team.
‘We strongly condemn this senseless act of violence and call on law enforcement to follow all leads to ensure that those responsible are quickly brought to justice,’

Dr. Kamata stated in a social media post. ‘We offer our deepest condolences to Arjun’s family, friends, the cricket community, and everyone affected by this heartbreaking loss.’ Menon had previously coached Singapore and had coaching roles in Chile, Botswana, and Indonesia.
‘Arjun was not just a coach; he was a mentor, a leader, and a true representation of Singaporean values such as excellence, humility, and service,’ stated the Singapore Cricket Association.
‘His legacy endures in the players he developed and the communities he inspired across the globe.’
