Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah has officially signed a new two-year contract with Liverpool.
His prior agreement was set to expire this summer, leading to uncertainty about his future with the club, especially following remarks made by the 32-year-old during the season and rumors suggesting a potential transfer to Saudi Arabia.
Now, Salah will have the opportunity to further enhance his impressive record of 243 goals and 109 assists in 394 appearances for Liverpool.
“I’m truly excited—our team is fantastic right now,” Salah expressed.
“We’ve had a strong team in the past as well, but I signed because I believe we have a real chance to win more trophies and enjoy my football.
“I’ve spent eight years here, and I hope to make it to ten. I’m loving my life and my football here; these have been the best years of my career.”
This season, Salah has netted 32 goals across all competitions, including 27 in the Premier League, as Liverpool aims for their 20th top-flight title. They currently hold an 11-point lead over second-placed Arsenal with seven matches left to play.
Since joining Liverpool from Roma in 2017, Salah has secured the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup titles with the team.
He is one of three pivotal Liverpool players whose contracts are set to expire this summer, alongside right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and center-back Virgil van Dijk.
Alexander-Arnold has been linked with a potential move to Real Madrid.
Salah’s previous contract was reported to be worth over £350,000 per week, making him the highest-paid player in the club’s history.
It is understood that the negotiations for his new contract did not include a pay cut.
