Less than 25 minutes after the tragic shooting of a Nigerian Catholic Priest Rev. Fr. Paul Offu, an unidentified individual drained his bank account.
According to a reliable source, (name withheld) who works where the deceased clergyman held an account, the suspect made multiple withdrawals until the account was completely emptied.
The insider remarked to africa24hrs, “It raises questions about how swiftly the assailants (if they were indeed the ones who withdrew the funds) managed to access the bank and deplete the account. Who could have possibly revealed the priest’s PIN number?”
The source further emphasized, “It is crucial for security personnel to investigate thoroughly and determine who executed the withdrawals from the murdered priest’s account immediately following his death.”
She noted that the ATM’s built-in camera would likely have recorded the individual’s face, potentially without their knowledge.
“It remains uncertain whether the person or persons responsible for the rapid withdrawal took measures to disable the camera before using the ATM, so the police should explore this avenue and ensure a comprehensive investigation,” she added.
Fr. Offu was fatally shot, while a commercial driver named Kenneth Igwe, who reportedly encountered the assailants, was abducted. Unfortunately, Igwe’s decomposed body was later discovered in a remote area by security forces on Monday.
